What can we do for you?

Brandle offers services in three categories: Consulting and Project Services, Education and Training Services, and Recruitment Services. Brief introductions are given here; follow the "Details" links at the end of each section for more in-depth information.

Consulting and Project Services

BRANDLE provides consulting and project services in the fields of general business communication and specialised technical communication. Both fields, in their own ways, are vital aspects of organisational survival and success.

General business communication is the glue that holds the organisational structure in place, and bonds the organisation to its customers and suppliers. Communication is the most fundamental of all business processes. Problems in general business communication cause lost time, wasted effort, and missed opportunities.

Specialised technical communication does not affect all business processes, but is crucial to those it does affect. A product or service always has technical aspects that must be made clear internally — to staff responsible for development, maintenance, and support; and externally — to customers who need to use the product or service. Problems in technical communication cause unnecessary support and maintenance costs, reduced customer satisfaction, and the loss of repeat business.

Education and Training Services

BRANDLE offers a comprehensive range of in-house courses to help improve communication processes where they really count — between people.

Communication is something we often take for granted. When we do think about communication, it’s usually in terms of organisational procedures rather than human interaction. We devote energy to getting memos distributed faster, without asking whether they are clear or even necessary. We devote energy to ensuring that procedural documents are complete and accurate, without asking whether people can actually use them on the job. The energy is often misdirected: it focuses on apparent efficiency rather than real effectiveness — on systems rather than outcomes.

To be effective, communication must fulfil a clearly-defined purpose. It must involve the right people, it must provide the right answers (or ask the right questions), and it must be clear and unambiguous. Clarity is largely (though not entirely) a matter of language skills; all the rest is a matter of problem-solving skills. These skills — in language and in problem solving — can be learnt, practised, and improved.

Many communication failures are attributable to bad habits. We often write or speak in a certain way without conscious thought. Improving communication skills is really a matter of replacing bad old habits with good new ones — but changing habits takes time, effort, concentration, and encouragement. That's why we offer optional follow-up sessions, a few weeks after our courses: these sessions aim to prevent people from slipping back into old habits.
